PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The International Federation of Endodontic Associations holds scientific sessions once every 3 years in different locations worldwide for the purpose of having leaders in endodontics share their knowledge and experience with all dentists. The program for the 2007 meeting includes germane topics in endodontics presented by respected authorities in the specific areas. Didactic and participation courses include the following:
• Current concepts and philosophies in treatment regimens
• Updates in endodontic research
• The role of dental assistants in endodontic treatment
• Magnification and illumination in dentistry
• Rotary instrumentation
• Pain management
• Interdisciplinary treatment regimens
• Standards of practice in endodontics
PLENARY SESSIONS
The IFEA 7th Endodontic World Congress will feature a panel of internationally renowned endodontic educators who have been selected because of the significant impact their research and publications have made on endodontic philosophy and practice. Among the topics they will present are an evidenced based approach to the selection of endodontic retreatment or immediate implant placement in the management of persistent periapical inflammation; the optimization of healing after traumatic dental injury; an evidence based look at single versus multiple appointments in the management of primary disease of endodontic origin; the extremes of rotary root canal instrumentation; and the current concepts of root canal disinfection and pain control.
The broad range of scientific sessions will address the issues of concern to both specialist and generalist. They will highlight the state-of-the art in patient management and treatment, paradigm shifts in treatment philosophies, and the need of the practitioner to adjust and accommodate to meet the demands of the future.
Also the Scientific Program will feature selected speakers from the 26 component endodontic organizations of IFEA as well as helpful and practical poster and table clinic sessions.
WORKSHOPS
In addition to Plenary Sessions the Congress will feature
several Workshops and Hands-On sessions on the Pre-Congress Day (August 22) that will give
those who choose to attend these sessions, first hand
supervised experience in the use of the new technologies.
3-D LECTURE: MICRO-ENDODONTICS AND ENDO-RESTORATIVE FOR THE NEXT CENTURY
The first endodontic meeting in history to feature 3-D technology! The Operating Microscope ushers in new clinical possibilities, and this revolutionary lecture format allows the attendees to experience true radicular anatomy, biomimetic endodontic shaping, and extraordinary endo-restorative possibilities that will finally bring real change in long term outcomes.
This fast paced lecture, by virtue of 3-D projection, will share these many new building blocks in microscope enhanced dentistry including:
- The evolution of the endo/endo-restorative continuum
- Delicate, microscope enhanced endodontic access
- The expanded role of ultrasonic in every day endodontics
- Shaping and restoring ovoid canal systems
- Identification and appropriate treatment of high risk endo-restorative cases
- Color and texture maps of dentin in calcified systems, the MB2 and Middle Mesial
- Esthetic possibilities in nonvital teeth
- The Achilles heel of endodontically treated teeth

DENTAL ASSISTANTS COURSE
Eleanor Brown (Canada)
The Role of the Dental Assistant in Endodontics
This presentation is specifically designed for the Dental Assistant. It will focus on:
- The complexities of Root Canal Anatomy
- Radiographic Techniques and Pitfalls
- Endodontic Armamentarium
- Patient Anxiety
- Endodontic Emergencies
Dental assistants will benefit by understanding the complexities of endodontic procedures thereby enhancing the team approach to patient care. |
