Delegates will be offered opportunities to meet with advanced practice nurses in local academic health science centres who have expertise in specialized areas of practice such as pain management, oncology, paediatrics, cardiology, eldercare and mental health/addictions.
Registration is limited and pre-conference registration is required.
St. Michael’s Hospital is known as the Urban Angel in Toronto. Join their team of APNs in An Examination of Innovative Advanced Practice Roles within an Inner-city Health Population, including dialogue about the role of APNs in caring for patients with cardiac problems as well as innovative APN roles in geriatric trauma, pain management and wound care.
The Hospital for Sick Children’s mission is ‘Healthier Children, A better World”. Join ‘Sick Kids’ team of APNs for a tour of the hospital and then dialogue about complex paediatric care, APN managed orthopaedic inpatient care and innovations in paediatric chronic illness care including children with diabetes, renal failure and those requiring technological support.
Toronto Rehabilitation Institute invites delegates to dialogue about the emerging frontier of rehabilitation science. Join their team of APNs to discuss innovations in stroke and brain injury, geriatric care, palliative care and complex continuing care. There will be opportunities to examine the role of APNs in pain and symptom management, wound care, dealing with challenging behaviours in brain-injured patients and facilitating patient-centred goal setting.
The University Health Network’s mission is to provide exemplary patient care, research and education and APNs are key in realizing these goals. Meet with the Chief Nurse Executive before meeting with APNs who will offer their perspectives on acute pain management, inpatient cardiology, nephrology and innovative practice models such as telehealth consultation and assessment.

The Harbourfront has been completely rebuilt over the years and is now one of the most popular areas of the city. We’ll top the tour with a delightful one-hour, commentated Harbour tour on Lake Ontario. Niagara Falls - Journey Behind the Falls & Dinner – 7 hours

Embark on this fully conducted tour to one of the natural wonders of the world - Niagara Falls. With a blend of contemporary man-made achievement and nature's own beauty and wonder, the region is truly a Canadian jewel.
Travelling towards Niagara, around the western perimeter of Lake Ontario, the beautiful Niagara Escarpment will slowly come into view. Its sheltering ridge is the reason for the area’s productive vineyards and fruit orchards yielding some of the world's finest wines, jams and fruit nectars. Your tour will proceed through Niagara-on-the-Lake, one of the earliest British settlements in Canada and nowadays a charming town considered one of the prettiest in Ontario.
Since the early 1820’s, millions of visitors have been attracted to Niagara Falls. You will have the opportunity to feel the Falls up close as they venture down below the Falls and feel the thundering water pour over them! Don’t worry - everyone is given a rain cape to protect them from the mist! Elevators will take your group through the rock face to the network of tunnels that run behind the Falls. One of the tunnels leads out to a lookout point just to the side of the thundering water, while the other leads to an opening behind the falls. The water literally pours right over you!
As for an evening meal, your group will enjoy a delicious buffet dinner overlooking the Falls. As you head back to Toronto, take a last glimpse of the magnificent Falls illuminated at night.

Travel through the Niagara region to uncover the mysteries behind the making of Ontario wine.
There are some 15,000 acres of vineyards in the Niagara area producing a glorious range of wines to delight all palates. Its temperate climate, blending of soils, and warm summers nourish and mature grapes for these superb wines. There are now more than forty Ontario wineries in the Niagara region, the first of which was established in 1873.
The tour will proceed through Niagara-on-the-Lake, a charming town considered to be one of the prettiest in Ontario. Guests will have free time for lunch here before heading to the first winery.
Learn about the making of wine through discussion and tasting as the group visits two world-class wineries. Upon arrival at the first, experts will guide your group through the vineyard, the underground barrel cellar as well as a structured tasting of three VQA wines.
En route back to Toronto, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a second VQA winery tour and tasting.

Then, feel the rush of nature's own wonder with a half hour thrill of a lifetime aboard the world-famous Maid of the Mist. Water literally rushes all around as you "soak" in the excitement and explorethe roarof the Falls.

BOOKING & CANCELLATION POLICIES
All tours are sold on an optional basis. Space is limited, and advance registration is advised.
Tours must be paid in full in order to be registered.
ICS reserves the right to cancel any or all tours at any time, if minimum number requirements are not met; registrants will then receive a full refund.
If you wish to cancel a pre-booked optional tour, you must notify ICS by email at tours@meet-ics.com or by fax at (604) 681-1049, no later than August 26, 2008. There will be a $25 service fee per tour cancelled. No refunds will be issued after August 26, 2008.
Liability Conditions
The supplier companies providing transportation and other services are independent contractors and are not the agents, employees or servants of, or joint ventures with ICS or its affiliates. By agreeing to utilize the services of ICS and its affiliates or their employees or agents, participants are aware that ICS and the companies providing transportation (i.e. the bus companies, boat companies etc.) and other suppliers, shall not be liable for any damage, loss, claim, cost or expense arising out of personal injury, accident or death, loss, damage or delay of baggage or other property resulting from:
a) The act of omission on the part of any person other than ICS or its employees;
b) Acts of God, sickness, theft, labour disputes, mechanical breakdown, government actions, weather or any other causes beyond ICS's direct control.
All terms and conditions, including fares, schedules, venues and rates may be subject to change, due to circumstances beyond ICS’s control. In this case, ICS will provide participating delegates adequate notice so that any alternate arrangements may be made.
