Come for the science, stay for the experience
The bi-annual conference of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology is a continually growing event that highlights the best research in the many and varied areas of expertise that make up this discipline. The 2009 meeting is unique in that two additional international groups, the American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists and the International Commission on Trichinelloisis, will be holding joint meetings in Calgary.
The theme for the 22nd WAAVP conference is One World One Health: Parasites in a Changing Environment. This will focus our attention on the dynamic and interactive world in which we find ourselves immersed and exemplifies the integrated nature of the interactions between humans, their domestic animals, wildlife and the environment. The joining together of these three important groups of parasitologists further supports the significance of the theme.
The Local Organising Committee invites you to Calgary, the heart of the Canadian prairies. Here you will marvel at the vistas of the wide open plains as they lead into the majestic and awe inspiring Rocky Mountains. The world renowned mountain centre of Banff is a short drive away as are the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and Waterton Lakes National Park.
Calgary is easily accessible from all regions of the world with direct access from several cities in Europe and the United States. Calgary can be reached conveniently from the Asia-Pacific through our Pacific gateway to the world, Vancouver, BC.
Please join us in Calgary in 2009 and enjoy some outstanding science coupled with breathtaking scenery and truly world-class dining, shopping and cultural activities.
