Let’s Make Lung Cancer History!
PROGRAMME TOPICS
The 12th World Conference on Lung Cancer will highlight recent important advances in lung cancer in the areas of prevention, early detection, molecular biology, biotechnology and therapy.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
Educational sessions
These sessions offer multidisciplinary explorations of focused topics
related to thoracic oncology. Particular care was taken to ensure
that these sessions are integrated in terms of such issues as
surgical, radiation, and medical oncology; symptom
management; health services research; global
perspectives; and pathology, as appropriate.
Highlights of the Day
In this session, experts in the field will
summarize the essence of the selected
abstracts of clinical/translational
research presented on the previous day.
Meet-the-Professor (MTP) Sessions
These sessions provide open
discussion between recognized
experts and session attendees,
with an opportunity for attendees
to interact personally with
the experts.
Mini-symposium sessions
In these sessions, reports on the
latest scientific results, controversial
issues, and emerging
concepts will be presented.
Experts in the field place the
studies in the appropriate
context based on the strength of
the evidence and critically discuss
the conclusions in terms of their
applicability to clinical practice.
Plenary sessions and Presidential symposium
In Plenary sessions, several lectures which are of particular interest, importance, and relevance to
attendees, will be presented. Top-scoring abstracts selected by the scientific committee will be presented
in the Presidential symposium.
Poster Display and Discussion sessions
These sessions highlight selected abstracts of submitted papers in poster format. The posters are grouped
by topic or by the questions posed as a result of the research findings. The posters are on display for a
specified time, followed by a discussion and summarized review session in which experts provide
commentary on the research findings in a separate room.
Proffered paper sessions
These sessions include 10-minute didactic presentations of selected abstracts of scientific research in
clinical trials, basic and translational research by topics. Experts in the field serve as discussants to
place research findings into perspective.
Young Investigator’s Day
The Young Investigator’s Day, which is designed specifically for medical professionals in training and
those in the early stages of their career, will provide a unique opportunity to interact with recognized
leaders in the field of thoracic oncology. Sessions will also provide practical, treatment-oriented, and
career-related information.
Interactive Grand Rounds Session This is a new interactive session that invites active participation of audience using interactive keypad technology. After a brief introductory lecture, a typical case scenario will be presented for discussion with a series of questions for the audience to answer
Satellite Symposia
Satellite Symposia will be offered to conference attendees free of charge. These will be sponsored by a
variety of pharmaceutical companies including: Eli Lilly, sanofi-aventis and AstraZeneca. See the
“Program at a Glance” for dates and times
Information on speakers and specific topics will be available on the conference website in 2007. You are
encouraged to attend these symposia as the topics have been chosen after consultation with the local
scientific committee and will compliment the plenary sessions and mini-symposia of the conference.
