12th World Conference on Lung Cancer. September 2 – 6, 2007. Seoul, Korea

Volunteers

The 12th World Conference on Lung Cancer will highlight recent important advances in lung cancer in the areas of prevention, early detection, molecular biology, biotechnology and therapy, expecting more than 5,000 participants from around the globe in the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center.

To make the Conference a great success we rely on volunteer assistance for the many important roles/ responsibilities on-site. We will require approximately 50 – 60 students or other volunteers with good English skills (Korean language is an asset) for the Conference week.

As a Volunteer for the 12th World Conference on Lung Cancer, you will be the first contact for many of the attendees. Your critical role will be to welcome foreign delegates and to foster a spirit of helpfulness and hospitality.

In return for volunteer services the WCLC gladly offers the following benefits:

  • Complimentary food & beverage during volunteer shifts, including evening social events
  • An excellent opportunity for English language students to practice their conversational English
  • Complimentary admission for Medical students to the day’s scientific sessions
  • A Certificate of Participation

The following volunteer positions are available during the WCLC:

  • Registration Desk representative (register delegates for the conference, distribute conference kits, etc.)
  • Greeter/ Hostess for scientific sessions (ensure the smooth running of the session, assisting the speaker where required)
  • Greeter/ Hostess for social event (assist together with ICS staff whenever help is needed)
  • Exhibition Hall Information Booth representative (assist together with ICS staff to ensure smooth running of the Exhibition)
  • Poster Session representative (assisting the presenter where required)
  • Delegate Bag preparation

Upon confirmation of your volunteer position, a volunteer training manual will be provided to you. This manual outlines all of the responsibilities associated with your assigned role(s) and your scheduled volunteer shift(s) during the Conference. We will also conduct two (2) on-site training sessions before the start of the Conference to ensure all volunteers are confident with the facility and their important role in the success of the WCLC.

Positions will be assigned based on a first come first apply basis and qualification.
